How can I stop obsessing over weight loss?

by admin on January 27, 2010

I’m 15, and all I think about it weight loss, weight gain, calories, how much I’ve exercised, measurements, anything like that. I’ve been like this for a long time, and I don’t want to develop an eating disorder. How can I get rid of these thoughts and focus on something else? It seems like nothing is working, and all it is doing is making me feel really down.

:( that’s so sad, your so young..
if you figure out a little exersize schedual, you should only start with that and keep eating normal meals with your family or however.
cut your meals in half maybe? that way, your going to be eating at least, but you’ll be seeing yourself eat less.
try going for a walk every night after dinner.
i’m not a doctor and i’m really not one to be sure on this, but it worked for me.

Also! you should be sure your staying healthy…so try making smoothies for lunch…but i guess your going to school..well, when you can..look up some smoothie recipies..there are lots. i used to have a book on how to make meals into drinks. like, using peanut butter and milk and yogurt and fruit. you can fill yourself up, but knowing that it’s all healthy and not full of too many calories..depending on the stuff you use.

Hi.
Don’t worry about all that. Youre still really young, and you should be happy with the way you look.
Keep up with execise but dont obsess over it. Eat healthy food, but that doesnt mean tiny tiny portions of food that wont help you get through your day. Hm… Find a book to read to get yuor mind off it, and tell yourself you are fine the way you are.
Everyones beautiful, so dont beat yourself up because you cant weigh only 70 pounds like those gross models.
Hope this helps a little. :)

being too skinny isnt pretty. You prob dont even to lose weight. exercising keeps you healthy…every too much is bad. balance eating healthy…as in eating when your hungry…satisfy your hunger dont starve…it makes it worse.

If you eat a bit in the morning it already gets the chemicals in yoru stomach ready for food…so when you eat lunch later on your not starving and will eat a good amount…dont do anything to make your self sick its not worth i. Give thanks that you have health…everyone is pretty…im sure you are too.

You should tell someone too if you really feel that way. theyw ont judge you…it’ll make it easier or you to talk about it and get over that feeling.Im 15 too and getting involved in things and hanging out with friends that like you for who you are makes it easier to get things off your mind.

Obsess over something else. I think this is the only good psychological answer here. Put that energy into something else or find a way on how to rid of that energy

Just lose the weight or look the weight you want already. Just get it done, forget and move on to some other insecurity. Don’t ignore or replace with another obsession, just tackle it directly and get over it, it will only get worse if you don’t address this issue now. Get an ideal weight, and once you reach that, stop, whether or not you are still insecure just don’t mind anymore once this ideal weight is reached. Can’t win it all. I think dieting is alright, it’s a hobby, it’s directional, and if it works it helps give you self esteem.. just have self control and never ever develop into an eating disorder. I’ve been battling with weight issues all my teen years more than a damn decade, so i finally stopped procrastinating and lost some weight by southbeach diet and sometimes low fat diet…my advice is to stick with a diet with already a fixed meal plan and made by some nutritionist at the least, also one in which all you have to do is mindlessly follow strictly like a samurai- less hassle, don’t try to make your own diet like starving yourself. Well it took me some year to get to the ideal weight, it didn’t totally lift all my problems so don’t expect so much but it did a little. Get it done you’ll get there and move on

Hun, the key is, you have to learn to trust yourself. You have to let go of those feelings and believe that everything will be ok.

You may believe that the only way to manage your weight is to constantly think about it, and if you stop thinking about it, it will get out of control. However, by NOT thinking about it, you ARE managaing it.

Are you interested in nutrition? If so, maybe you should think about relaying all of that energy you use to think about food and weight loss into formulating a career in nutrition. In other words, maybe you can convert your unhealthy thinking into healthy thinking.

Good luck hun.
