Is walking and a stability ball enough for weight loss?

by Guest Author on July 2, 2010

I need to lose lots of weight (about 50 or more pounds) and was wondering if walking and the stability ball would be enough for this weight loss? Or should I start out with this, then gradually change walking into jogging then running?

Hi radal94,

Before anything else, I hope to bring to your attention that since you want to lose about 50 pounds or more, be sure to take on a gradual pace or you’ll suffer embarrassing side effects like saggy skin and then you have to go through surgery spending thousands of dollars to remove them. Not worth it.

Now, walking is considered low-intensity exercise. Such kind of exercise will only burn body fats during your exercise bout. Once you stop exercising, your fat-burning effect stops.

As for stability ball, depending on what sort of exercise you do with it. If you perform low-intensity, the effect will be the same as that of walking. Check out this 2 short videos that show the use of stability ball to perform some fat loss exercises:

=> http://www.inotfat.com/fat-burning-workouts/12-minute-fat-loss-workout-9.htm

If you increase the intensity level, the effect will be fat-burning throughout the rest of the days even hours after you stopped your exercise.

For jogging, if you jog below your threshold, it’s still considered low-intensity. But if you jog above it, it’s considered moderate intensity. If you run, it’s definitely high-intensity and you’ll continue to burn fats post exercise.

You might like to read from the weight loss guide below which I found it extremely informative and I really learn tons from it. It talks about what your body needs for effective fat loss and how you can optimize your weight loss with high-intensity exercises, etc.

You’ll probably need at least an hour to finish absorbing the fact-filled info.

Hope that helps.

I would start out with that and then move to jogging. Unless you’re very overweight to begin with you probably won’t lose much weight by doing such light exercises. The more intense workouts will definately help you.
